I have been asked by our instruments department to supply answers on whether certain process fluids/gases will have moisture, vibrations, or build up on instruments. What factors go into determining the answers? I guess I am looking for some guidance on where to start to researching my answer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Bobbobs,

I have always taken pride in the fact that process engineers are the initiators of any engineering activity in the chemical process industry & I have always welcomed questions from other disciplines such as instrument/mechanical/electrical as long as they are precise, pertinent & their purpose is known. In your case it appears to me that the question asked to you is too vague & without any context. You should gracefully request them to provide you more details on what is the purpose of asking this question & tell them to be more precise in raising their query. I am pretty sure that what you have asked is too vague for anybody to comprehend.

Hope to help you once you come out with more details.

Regards,
Ankur.
