Hi everyone

I have been tasked with sizing a TSV for the blocked outlet of a heat exchanger and am required to use the method in API RP 521 (Pg 33) to first get the required relieving rate. However im not sure if the heat duty in the equation refers to the exchanger duty or if there is some otehr method to be used to obtain the heat duty.

Yes you may use the heat duty as specified in the NOTE. To be conservative, it is best to estimate the highest heat duty possible in operation.
