Pulsation Dampener

Dear All,

We are using Bran+Lube Single Acting, Triplex reciprocating pump, operating at ~ 150 barg pressure to pump anhydrous ammonia or polyol (poly propylene glycol). The pulsation dampener located at the pump discharge is failing ofen. (Attached is the info about the dampener)

The bladder material used in the dampener is EPDM (ethylene propylene diene Monomer). The failure is mostly by i) crack or split open bladder or ii) the bladder gets hardened and no dampening effect?.

Please give your advise
1)if the bladder material can be changed to other type which is compatible to Ammonia and Polyol.

2)Other type of dampeners which may work better in these applications based on your experience.

Milton Roy is a world renowned company manufacturing single acting duplex / triplex / Quadruplex diaphragm pumps. Pulsation dampeners are required for these kind of pumps is a well known fact. They have published an instruction manual for selection, installation, operation and troubleshooting for the pulsation dampeners supplied by them. This manual also contains a lot of generic information about pulsation dampeners which could help you in troubleshooting your specific problem.

Thanks to Breizh & Ankur

I have checked few other sites also which says EPDM is ok for anhydrous ammonia. But still our experience is different, as the bladders get hardened after short period of use and could not do the dampening effect.So looking for better material which could resist Ammonia. Thanks
