I am looking for a standard / rule of thumb regarding placement of Amine acid gas flare and Common flare stacks Is this possible to place them close to each other, is their any standard practise that limits this placement.

Jhal,
You can also put the two guns in the same stack. This solution is normally applied in refineries.

jrtailor09,
could you kindly provide the meaning of OISD? Thank you.

Sharjeel

I think the most important aspect is the impact of Acid gas flare on the Main Flare stack. I think the flares can only be palced closer if these flares are essentially at the same height. The heights will be governed by taking the worst scenario of the two.

The literature does not give clear distance to be set for the subject matter

TO NOORU,
Yes I agree to you that Acid gas flare will have impact on the main flare, I am burning off 1000ppm H2S and 3%CO2 at normal condition and due to the radiation emitted from this flare will always effect the main flare. But if the height of acid gas flare is increased than the main flare, this effect of radiation will be reduced because as height increases the effect of radiation becomes lower.
Thats what my understanding says, but I would like to hear from others in this forum about this.

Sharjeel,

Then you don't have any other option.

You have to provide acid gas flare & hydrocarbon flare having same height and adjustant to each other.

Jatin

Jatin,

Can you please explain me what is the logic behind keeping both flares at same height why can't we place them at different heights.
Kindly consider my explanation of not keeping both flares at same heights and please enlighten me if you feel that my explanation is incorrect.
With authentic literature.
