Dear All,

 

Does anyone can help me to list reasons of considering "dip" inlet line for Fueloil, gasoil, etc. storage tank when the inlet line is from the top of the tank?

We use check valve on inlet if the inlet is at bottom of the tank.

It is to avoid splash filling...

 

Liquids you mentioned (hydrocarbon based) have a low conductivity so that static charges can accumulate on the liquid due to splash filling, high velocity,...

A spark passing between charged liquid and tank wall/roof can act as an ignition source thereby ignighting the vapor-air mixture in the space at the top of the tank...
