We are operating a centrafuge for dewatering of our sludge here in a West Virginia City.   Approximately 3 months ago we started to have an issue of every 5 to 6 hours of standard operation the centrafuge turning to slop.  We have taken the unit apart and can find NO mechanical issues.

We are at a absolute loss for a solution .

Has anyone ever experienced the same problem ?   Possible solution to this problem ?

This has become a real issue for the operators.

Would appreciate some help !!!

Mark

What kind centrifuge do you have? What caused the machine to stop, high torque, high power draw, or high vibration? How about running the machine standby?

17 inch Westfalia centrifuge.

The centrifuge does not go out on high torque, power draw , vibration,     Its not going out.

The problem is after 4 to 5 hours of operation it just goes to slop.    Polymer is fine !     Unit just goes to liquid slop, has to be shut down , ran through the wash down cycle and restarted.   Will then run fine for 4 to 5 hours.

Unit has been opened up and everything looks fine.   Some build up of struvite .

Thanks

Mark,

If nothing wrong with the equipment , you should consider your process and the quality of the material you want to filter . No change over the year ? particle size distribution , viscosity ,.....which may affect the separation ?

You should consult the vendor , it may be able to run test with you material or point you in the right direction
