hello,
I am just a new graduated chemical engineer. I am learning how to using hysys to find z factor and hydrate formation from composition provided. Pls help me how to use hysys and manipulate the compositions in order to get a z factor of 14% licensed H2s and hydrate formation.
Your help and inputs are appreciated.

Hello Roxy,
If I understood your question in a correct manner, that should not be a problem for you. Z-value is automatically calculated by Hysys and can be found in "Properties" tab for a given stream. Hydrate utility can be activated by using "Attachments" --> "Utilities" --> "Create" --> "Hydrate formation utility".
However, here are some drawbacks:
1. I never believe to Hysys when hydrate formation conditions are to be predicted. It does very poor job when sour components are present in the system (CO2, H2S), which requires different (in-house) thermodynamic packages to be used.
2. Basically the same applies for certain properties predicted by Hysys, especially transport properties. Depending on the complexity and type of your mixture, Hysys can make quite a mess sometimes. Regarding Z-values, you should always try to consult ChE literature and graphs available in the internet, to perform a cross-checking of the results obtained by software.
