Hello Fellow ChE's

I'm working on flare sizing for a refinery expansion project. For the Global power scenario, the cumulative flare load is in the magnitude of 3 MMlb/hr. I'm trying to reduce the cumulative load so that the flare is not over-designed. One of the options is transient/dynamic analysis. I do not have previous experience doing this analysis.

Could anyone provide good documents describing this analysis?

Your prompt response is appreciated.

This is a tall order. If you have not done dynamic simulation before, I suggest you do not try this for the first time on a flare load mitigation. In any case very few people will depend on a dynamic simulation output to reduce flare size!! There are a number of articles on this topic in Hydrocarbon Processing or CEP.

Well, that is my advice for whatever it is worth.

Regards

Thanks a ton 'rxnarang' for the sound advice.

I've used dynamic simulation (Hysys) earlier but not for Flares. I think flares is a different ball game altogether, but the underlying concept should be the same for dynamic simulation. I'll look for articles on this topic.

I appreciate your prompt reply.

More comments are appreciated.
