I have to calculate erosional velocity through a nozzle of a Flare knock out drum, does it have to be calculated the same way as we calculate for pipelines? can anyone refer me to any reference material?

Hi mmairaja:

Here are two HTML files: calc5.htm and calc7.htm.

calc5.htm calculator is on the compressible flow and nozzle topics -- http://members.aol.c...gware/calc5.htm, while calc7.htm is for the ideal gas equation to help you with the density calculation -- http://members.aol.c...gware/calc7.htm.

In the end, for the given mass flow rate, you will get the cross sectional area value.

Use your input values and try to get some reasonable output values. If you get stuck, let me know.

Thanks,

Gordan
