Hello all,
I'm currently generating an in-house procedure for the sizing of gas/liquid separators. I have plenty of resources for design calculations, system modelling and such, however I've run into a bit of a problem with separator selection. Obviously the separator has to be fit for purpose, a knockout drum probably won't be sufficient upstream of a compressor, but I can't find any literature which provides clear, concise and detailed guidance on selection of separator type (e.g. am I best with a horizontal van-type demister, instead of a cyclone?).
I've searched the forum and found some discussion on this, but nothing which seems to fit my needs. I've consulted colleagues who have said that in the past separator sizing has been done via experience, but for the sake of retaining and disseminating this knowledge in future I'd rather have some concrete references. I should mention that we are design house, so I only require rough guidance as opposed to precision calcs that vendors use, enough to generate a datasheet anyway. If someone could point me in the direction of some good literature that would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
