Hi all,

Can some one clarify how to calculate the PSV orifice area which is located on a PIG receiver??

I have a two phase fluid, 80% vapor, 9% water and 11% condensate?.
1. How do we consider the dimension for the PIG receiver to calculate the wetted surface area since the PIG traps has 2 varying diameter.

2. How do we take the level of liquid in the PIG.. Do we have to assume that the PIG receiver is fully filled?

3. While doing hysys simulation to calculate the properties such as latent heat pf vaporization I'm getting this error.. "A temperature in stream 3 is not found at requested conditions"

4. While doing sizing for PSV in hysys, This error occurs. "Bubble point flash to determine relieving temperature failed"

How should I proceed further to size this PSV?

Hi ,

It should be part of the scope of the pigging system designed by vendors !

Safety is key in this design .
