Can anyone tell me how to size an open drains drum.

Jiggy,

I had written a "Drain System" standard for a middle east O&G company. For onshore O&G installations the following is the criteria for sizing of the open drain system:

Open drain system design

Design flows:

The loading on a open drainage system mainly consists of:

Rainwater (Q_r) flow rate

Fire-fighting water (Q_f) flow rate

Washdown water (Q_w) flow rate

Open Drain systems shall be designed for the greatest of the following three flows:

Firewater case = Q_f

Rainwater case = Q_r

Washdown case = Q_w
