In order to accomplish safety issues I need to seal my 600litre polyethylene IBC container for diesel, which is equipped with top mixer. The container opening is 150mm and I did 15mm hole in the lid (for 13mm shaft). However, I am required to make it better = a tight sealing of the agitator shaft (made in-house).
Any ideas will be appreciated.
Cheers,
Andrzej

Andree:

When you enter the area of sealing an agitator shaft you have entered the world of drafting (now called "designing). You have to discuss your problem with detailed sketches - or better, with drawings.

You don't need AutoCad for this. You can generate the drawing in Excel. This is the only way we are going to understand what you mechanically have in front of you and what you are proposing. I have probably already resolved in the past what you presently have in front of you - but I can't understand your situation without a detailed drawing.

For example, I have designed and applied liquid oxygen piston pump packing glands for pumping up to 3,000 psig - at -350 oF. You haven't stated what the pressure in your vessel is, but I suspect is doesn't approach 3,000 psig.

We need a drawing. And also define what IBC means.
